Time for an ''exactly what it says on the tin" type of post :) But, be warned, unless you want to be happy and to live a happier life, you cannot. Happiness comes from within, and you have to make that choice.
So that's where I'll leave this post - it isn't easy to live a happier life. There is sadness, negativity and awful things happening all around us. And I totally get that, but sometimes you need to realise that in order to live a happier life, we must learn to distance ourselves from those things/people, and do something to benefit ourselves. You need to make the choice and implement some changes.
Do one thing at a time, and soon, it won't feel like hard work! You are probably doing some of these things already, so some more minor changes, and you will live a happier life :) and let's face it, who wants to be unhappy?!
- Stop listening to/reading the news
Statistics and research shows that people who listen to the news more than once a day are more likely to suffer from low episodes, depression, pent up anger and frustration, anxiety - the list is endless! Put down the newspaper, turn off the radio, stop refreshing The Journal/Daily Mail!!! And do I need to start on about TV soaps and series???! - Look for the positives in every day
And there are positives in every day - even little ones! So sometimes, dig a little deeper and find them! Write them down to start, and then you will spot them easily! - Don't take part in gossip and bitching
Because you can be sure if your 'friends' are bitching and gossiping about others, they will do the same about you with others! - Distance yourself from toxic people
See above - some people will only drag you down and stop you from achieving happiness. Surround yourself with positive, like-minded people :) - Move a little every day
Whether it is a gym workout, a run, a Zumba class, a swim, a walk, a dance - whatever your movement of choice - do it, every day! - Learn to focus on yourself
Without being selfish or self-centred! If you cared about yourself even half as much as you care for other people, you'd be doing great! Happiness is an inside job. Learn to love yourself :) - Eat good, nutritious food
Good food has a massive impact on your overall mental health, so therefore, eating a good, well-balanced diet will have a positive effect on yours! - Take time out
Some down time is necessary for everybody. You cannot expect to be happy if you are running on empty! Some rest and relaxation does wonders for your mental health. - Have a little bit of what you fancy every once in a while!
To keep you sane, have some chocolate, wine, pizza, whatever your vice, every so often. I absolutely do not believe in restricting - it leads to binging, and an unhappy and negative relationship with food (but that's a story for another blog post!) - Get over it!
Holding a grudge? Wishing you'd done something differently? Worrying about something you said? Time to move on. Worrying about something and over-thinking things in the past robs you of today's happiness!
