You know one of those days? When you just don't feel good. You don't know why, there's no reason for it, but you just feel down. I'm having one of those days. And I shouldn't!! I'm on my holidays, having a lovely chilled time out, but I just don't feel OK. And that's OK.
For some people, like me, this feeling usually only lasts a few hours, the day, at most. I can sometimes feel these bad days coming, and counteract them. Other days, like today, I can't. For other people, these bad days can go on for much longer - a few days, a week, a couple of weeks, and so on.
When I'm feeling down, there are a few things I can do to help get me through the day. Usually, when I'm working, the focus on work will get me through til three o'clock, but after that, it can be difficult! I try and surround myself with things that make me feel happy, or things that make me focus on the good. One of these is my boyfriend, Mark. A little cry and a cuddle is sometimes the best remedy! Other times, it could be a cup of tea or my favourite coffee. I also like to try something creative - like colouring or writing, or even doodling! Exercise is also a fantastic therapy.
Today, instead of wallowing in my own self-pity, which can be very unhealthy, I got my arse in gear and went to the shop to get myself something yummy for my dinner tonight - a steak! YUM!! I also got myself a coffee from a lovely little coffee shop. I then drove a couple of minutes out the road to this beautiful lake side, pictured above. I sat and had my coffee and thought a little bit. I also repeated some positive affirmations that can help me when I'm feeling down. The peace and stillness was really nice, and really helped me to focus on happy thoughts and allow the other thoughts to float on by! I always like to think of thoughts as clouds - it's a mindfulness technique, and it's one which is quite powerful for me! And now, as I write my thoughts down, I'm feeling a lot less crappy and feel like I'm back to myself. I'm going to pop out for a run now to fully clear my head and be ready for my delicious dinner later on.
If you are one of the people who have more bad days than good days, well then, maybe it's time to talk to a loved one about how you're feeling and take it from there. People have good days. People have bad days. It's all about how we deal with them that matters. Be kind to yourself, love yourself, be your own best friend, and above all, remember, it's OK not to be OK. <3
